In recent years, many companies have allowed employees to work from home rather than commuting to an office. To what extent do you think the benefits of this outweigh the drawbacks?

In an era defined by rapid digital advancement, work from home has gained significant traction among employees, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Some people view that work from home has a lot of advantages while some argue that it has negative impacts. I firmly believe the benefits of this work method outweigh the drawbacks.

Proponents argue that remote work has detrimental impacts that affect employees productivity, since it could reduce employee communication quality with one another. This is because the interaction among workers is mediated by digital ecosystems such as Zoom or Google Meet, which can strict face-to-face interactions that make communication less effective. For instance, an employee can sleep in a meeting because there is nobody who supervise it. However, this ineffective work condition is mostly like caused by unorganized work regulation. Therefore, it is important how a company control it's employee.

On the other hand, work from home can be much productive and less stressful since it can maintain a work-life balance. Research in human resource suggests a company that apply remote work reports higher levels of employee satisfaction and lower level of burnout. For example, we are not required to stuck in a heavy traffic congestion while going to our office. This can prevent workers from overwhelming situation and safe time to do a lot of productive work.

To conclude, work from home has many positive impact that outweigh the drawbacks. However, a company must create proper regulations to organize it's employees to take benefits from this kind of work.
